Return To Positivity

Return To Positivity

Hi Disturbers, well my last Blog ‘ Watch each other’s back’ certainly got people reading. It had the highest amount of clicks since I commenced the Optimistic Disturber BLOG. I am thrilled, because looking after each other and supporting each other is so important – especially when you are a Disturber.

This week I want to talk about a return to positivity because I have experienced a time where I needed people to look out for my back.

One of my  family experienced a bad headache one week ago and yesterday came out of surgery having had a brain tumour the size of a tennis ball removed.

The seemingly insignificant symptoms just didn’t measure up to the chaos that our lives have been thrown into this week. Will he survive, and if he does, what will be the side effects etc etc. Oh, and what about the rest of our life – is everything in order; usually things that you can plan were all of a sudden thrown in front of us with no real certainty of what was to come.

Yesterday he came out of surgery and has taken the first step to recovery, but there is a still a long way to go. One thing is for sure, life as he knew it has changed.

When you go through something like this, you experience every emotion possible. You also become very reflective about yourself and the others around you and realize how fragile we really are as humans.

But out the other side is the positive!

How lucky we are to do what we do to have great experiences behind us, and wonderful opportunities in front of us, and to be able to make something of our lives. Never forget it!

Negative people and negative situations are usually such a small part of our lives and yet they seem to get most of our time.

So, in this very short blog, be thankful for who you are and what you have. Start to see the good in people and situations around you. Love the people that you have been given to love, even if they drive you crazy, and experience as much as you can in life because you just don’t know when it may not be there.

Whatever that thing is that you wanted to do for so long – do it! Whatever that situation is that you want to be better – make it better! Above all, take care of yourself, we all need you and you still have so much to offer.

Keep getting disturbed enough to make positive change.

  1. Hi Des
I wish you and your family member all the very best and a healthy recovery.
It seems that we awaken to what we have when are suddenly and dramatically faced with loosing it.
I have had this experience when my wonderful wife had an in your face life changing illness.
3 years on she is and we are going great.

To all your readers do not wait until the crisis comes to awaken the inner spirit and enjoy and live every single moment. As each minute ticks by it is gone and cannot be lived differently – no matter how much attention your give it. Live every minute well.
    all the best to everyone
    David

    1. What a beautiful response David. Thank you so much for your best wishes and also your wisdom to all of us. You are right, it is such a pity that we don’t appreciate the people we love until we are put in a situation where we might lose them. Thank you David
