Just Be Kinder!

Maybe I am naive, but I just can’t get my head around how one person can actively take steps to take the life of another person – it is just not a part of my psyche.

The execution of two young Australians in Bali has disturbed me greatly. Not that I agree in any way with what they did, but the barbaric act of execution just does not compute for me in this day and age. There are other forms of punishment, including rehabilitation!

It did make me stop and think though, about how many people we emotionally kill, or seriously injure on a daily basis and just accept it as being our right.

I don’t mean literally, but with the words that we use, the way we include or exclude them, or just the things that we are not interested enough in to notice.

There is so much fear being generated at the moment through natural disasters, aviation, terrorism etc, all of which we have little or no power over, but that does not stop us doing the right thing, right where we are.

So my message is very simple – BE KINDER!

Be kinder to others, be kinder to yourself, be kinder to the ones that you love and be kinder to our planet. These are all things that are within our control and would change the world if we all accepted the part we had to play.

I would like to write more, but I don’t need to – you get the message.

Just start being kinder -That’s it!

  1. Thank you for todays message ‘Be Kinder’.
Thai IS it … just that.
Kinder thoughts, actions, words, looks, listening skills …….
Treat others as you would like to be treated.
    Kind Regards!

    1. Thanks Maryanne for your feedback. That is it really. Be Kinder! I know I have had to challenge myself and like Peter, in one of our other responses, I am making May 2015 my project to start the kindness stream flowing in me. It has to start with us. Kind Regards – Des

  2. Des, You are not being naive; in fact I have been reflecting on such matters and I have recently been moved to challenge myself and others to attempt to “over do” kindness, compassion and gratitude for the next month (May).. and then share and reflect.

    1. HI Peter thank you for your feedback. That is a sensational challenge that you are taking on. I would love to hear how you and the others around you go. It can only be good. Best wishes – Des Penny

  3. Hi Des, as an organisation we recently held a ‘gratitude challenge’ for all our people and it really helped to lift us all as individuals and teams. We placed posters and wrote comments on these in our worksites and included the message of gratitude in our Facebook page and internal communications. On a personal level it just felt good to share our positive thoughts and aspirations.

    1. Thanks Dave that is an awesome idea and one that I might pinch from you for my own business. I hope other readers jump on board too.You can never give/get enough gratitude and if we only realised how much it motivates people to do more, then we would focus far more on giving it. Thanks Dave
