Flip Your Thinking!

What would happen if you simply just decided, when you woke up tomorrow morning, that you would change the way you think about: your job, your boss, your organisation, your partner, your family, your friends etc, etc.

Well guess what? It is as simple as that!

One thing we all have control of is our mind and the subsequent actions we take as a result of the thoughts that come into our heads. The minute we think something, we also make a decision as to how we will respond or react to that thought. So what choices do you make?

Just imagine if we flipped our thinking around the people that we didn’t like or found hard to communicate with. Imagine if we did not let the negative people play such a big role in our lives.

It doesn’t mean that we have to agree with them or in fact like them, but flipping our thinking allows us to be far more in control of the impact they have on our lives.

You see, most of the time, the people we struggle with have no idea of the grief they are causing us, they just get on with their lives leaving us to wallow in our our negative disturbance and self-pity.

So, do you think you have it in you to simply flip your thinking?

Tomorrow change the way you think and speak about one person that you struggle with. Watch the situation change and the pressure lift. It will happen!

Then try someone else and someone else again, until it becomes a part of who you are.

In other words, look after yourself, by taking back the control of your thoughts and actions – it is such an empowering thing to do.

So who will you start with? This is the BIG question.

Have an amazing week and keep getting disturbed enough to make positive change!

  1. Hi Des, Thanks for posting this – it is so true and so easily forgotten! I have had numerous personal occasions when my changing my own attitude or mindset I completely changed the whole situation. It is so powerful and yet we fall into the trap of routine and rat race and get caught out feeling down, in a rut or out of control when it really isn’t like that. Thanks for the reminder!

    1. Thanks Elizabeth for your great comments and honesty. Life is pretty awesome really, isn’t it? When we appreciate the things around us, each time we get into a rut it gets a little easier to get out of.

      Cheers

  2. Des, loved what you wrote! Why do we always forget that we have the gift of ‘choice’. I often suggest during coaching sessions that people , flip their thinking and take a different point of view. Sometimes we even physically change chairs to make the activity more real. The other thing to remember about flipping your thinking is that you need to do it with a positive and sincere attitude. If you don’t your body language will betray you.

    1. Hi Steve thanks for your comments. Sorry for the delay in responding I took a break to go overseas. Keep up the great work with your coaching. I guess the reason many people don’t flip their thinking is that they just don’t know how. So people like yourself are there to help them make that happen.

      Cheers
