Stand up for what you believe in, but don’t expect everyone to agree with you!

If you are waiting for everyone to agree with you then you will die a very slow death. In fact, my view is that if people do agree with everything you do and say, then you are possibly not challenging them enough to think for themselves.

But before you can do this, you must have a clear understanding of what you actually do believe. Do you know what your deal breakers are, or what you would die on your sword for?

Not knowing this just adds to our stress and our confusion!

Control what you can control and leave the rest to take care of itself.

Isn’t it funny how we spend less time on the things that we can control and more time on the things that we can’t. That is why so many people are frustrated, lack inspiration and never really know what they stand for.

Seriously, if you can’t control something, then you might be able to influence it, but if you can’t do that then learn to let it go. Unless it goes against everything that you fundamentally believe in, then it is just not worth the angst that it causes. Move on!

The things you cannot control will rob you of your energy and passion.

So Disturbers, it is all about getting disturbed about the things that really matter and not getting roped in to the things that don’t.

Ask yourself these questions, personally and professionally:

  • Do I know what I believe in and what I would fight for?
  • Am I spending too much time focusing on the things that I cannot control?
  • Am I getting stressed over things that really don’t matter in the long run?
  • Could I be more effective if I changed the things I focused on?
  • Am I prepared to take a step back and change my focus?

If you answer YES to question five, then you are on your way to rediscovering, time, energy and passion.

Hey Disturbers, let’s get disturbed together – but only on the things that matter!
